July 26, 2005 The I.D. Magazine Annual Design Review, America’s largest and most prestigious juried design competition since 1954 has awarded the prestigious Design Distinction Award to Force Dimension and ECAL for the Omega Haptic Device. The Omega design was chosen from an entry pool of more than 2,000 designs from around the world. Force Dimension’s Swiss-based design team developed the Omega Haptic Device to bring the sense of touch to computer applications with state-of-the-art ergonomic form and function. "We are honoured to be selected by I.D. Magazine for this international award," stated Patrice Rouiller, CTO and Project Manager of the Omega Haptic Device at Force Dimension. "Our first goal was to provide users with a high precision touch device for research, industrial and medical applications. From the start, we identified ergonomy and esthetics as a fundamental need in the development of the Omega Haptic Device, in order to make it a truly versatile interface, easily adaptable to the wide range of applications it was intended for."
